Best Gas Water Heater

Choosing The Best Gas Water Heater

When it comes time to replace your home's water heater, you'll need to do some research on the various types of water heaters available, as the best time to switch from one type to another is when your water heater already needs replaced. The type you are replacing, say an electric, may no longer be the best choice for your home or for the needs of your family. If, after you have done some research, you decide that a gas water heater might be a good choice for your home, there are a few things you'll want to know in order to choose the best gas water heater.

If it's been a number of years since your water heater was last replaced, then you'll need to decide if you want to stick with a full tank model, or go with a tankless natural gas water heater. Both have certain advantages; tankless water heaters from brands such as Bosch are good for providing hot water on demand, and can do so no matter how great or small the demand. For homes with limited demand, a regular tank model can be chosen based on capacity, as brands such as Marathon have models as small as 15 gallon, and as large as 105 gallon.

Some brands, such as Richmond, even have commercial models for even greater hot water demands. The best gas water heater for you is going to depend entirely on how much hot water you use at any given time. Whichever brand or model you choose, you'll also want to look for one that has a thermostat that is easy to adjust, as well as ones that have positive energystar ratings. You might also want to read product reviews written by people who actually various water heater models you are considering; if possible, also talk with people you know who have recently replaced a water heater in their home. It's important to do these things in order to choose and buy the best gas water heater for your needs.

Once you have chosen a gas water heater, you'll want to do some comparison shopping. While you can often save money by shopping online, those prices may not be very good once you factor in shipping. Also, don't be afraid to take advantage of home improvement store's promises to "match any competitors price". You just might save yourself some money.

I will have to look into the cost of switching from electric to gas and see if it is worthwhile. I like the idea of gas over electric, but just haven’t had a gas line installed yet for anything.

We installed a smaller gas water heater at our camp. It was an easy install and we now enjoy hot water. It was a great investment as we are using the camp more and more.
